Reading Periods for our Print Volumes
Open, free reading periods:
- January 1st - April 30th
- September 1st - December 31st
5-dollar per submission reading period:
- May 1st- August 31st (while we’re reading for our annual Beautiful Pause Prize)

Press Pause Press publishes all kinds of original art and music, including artistic or musical reactions to any work from our volumes.
In your submission, attach a jpg, pdf, tiff, or mp3
Please try to stay away from attaching pictures of your art.
If you'd like to be considered for our cover art (back and front cover), please indicate this in your cover letter. Thank you!
We're currently reading for the Beautiful Pause Prize and will open back up for free submissions September 1st.

Guidelines:
Press Pause publishes short stories, flash, and novel/novella excerpts, poetry, art, and most types of essays.
In your submission, attach a word doc, docx, or pdf. Please stay away from weird, hard to read fonts—we're big fans of plain ole Times New Roman and Garamond. Don't fret about length, but know that we don't typically publish over 20 pages.
